About
Me
I am currently a Fashion Design undergraduate student at Parsons School of Design following the pathway of fashion product. My work mainly consists of collections that subtly speak for myself and my past experiences, as well as my multicultural background as a Korean/Chilean living in New York City. My projects reflect the opposite of my calm and earthy personality, which has been shaped over the years by these two contrasting cultures and the emotional journey that comes with them, including identity crises, the feeling of not belonging, and eventually, acceptance and pride, as I enjoy working with Maximalism and incorporating the loud city life as environment inspiration, since it’s always very loud and busy in my mind. I love working with leather and different textured materials, creating rough surfaces, manipulating the appearance and finish of different textiles, usually mixing different materiality in the same product or garment, and utilizing a contrasting color story.

While I still enjoy designing garments, I have been focusing my most recent work on fashion products. I have a new passion for creating handbags, footwear, gloves, and small accessories/leather goods. What I appreciate the most about this new pathway is the sculptural aspect of it and the way I am able to create in a wider range of silhouettes and volumes, stepping outside of the human body for a minute, and not exclusively working around its different shapes and sizes, allowing me to be more creative with fewer limitations.
I have mastered many different skills through my journey at Parsons, including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, use of industrial sewing machines, technical flat sketches, digital flat sketches, draping, pattern making, garment and product construction, and footwear construction. Additionally, I am confident that my adaptability skills and problem solving mindset will be of great use in the industry. Please, feel free to contact me should you be interested in having me in your team.

Sincerely,
Gou Lee
